How to Register for Classes:
All contract and exchange students are required to send their registration assistance form together with their application forms. OIE will help you with registration. You should go to the UW-Stout webpage to find out the courses you want to take and list at least 8 courses because some of the courses may not be available and sometimes two of the courses you want to take maybe offered at the same time. Class catalogue is available at: which gives you the description about the courses. Please note NOT all the courses in the catalogue are offered every semester. For current courses offered for a certain semester, please go to UW-Stout Homepage. Click on “Class Search” at the very top middle of the page.
After you have been accepted to UW-Stout, we will send you the visa document with registration and housing reservation information. You must follow the instruction to complete the fee payment Agreement online immediately. We cannot register you for classes without this agreement . Here is the link to our website: to learn how to complete the Fee Payment form.
It’s important to register soon after being accepted so you can get the classes you need. Registration begins in March for the fall semester, and October for the spring semester. Many upper level classes (300-400 levels) are filled very fast. If you have any question about class availability and registration, please e-mail : .
Once you are accepted into UW-Stout, you should reserve on campus housing online. It will make your life a lot easier to live on campus as you will only be here for one or two semesters. The housing contract reserves your room and meal plan for the entire duration of your stay at UW-Stout (if you are here for two semesters, the housing contract is for two semesters). Room assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is to your advantage to send your housing contract and pay $125 housing deposit online as soon as possible.   We highly recommend that Special Contract Students and exchange students live on campus.
If you chose to live off- campus, you are responsible for your own housing accommodations! UW-Stout is not responsible for finding you off-campus housing. Most landlords require a 12 month lease which means students who live off campus are responsible for paying a full calendar year (12 months) of rent. Apartments in Menomonie are usually not furnished (do have furniture). Rent often does not include electricity, internet, cable, and other utilities.
